Sequins and denim.

Lately I have really been loving the 'casual' look that most bloggers have been adopting. The trend on it's own is wonderful but it's just not me, I had to dress it up a little - enter sequins. I really do love all things that sparkle, nothing completes an outfit better than a big slab of shimmery goodness. Thus, I present to you an outfit that is slob on the top and party on the bottom.

I'm wearing vintage sunglasses (shown here), t-shirt that is property of my man, vintage jacket, necklace from Etsy, sequin skirt by Mika and Gala, vintage bag/scarf (shown here) and the boots are Dr Marten.

This post is a little later than expected (sorry) as I had a crazy, busy day at work then came home to host a BBQ. Tomorrow I'll have a post for you about a new and exciting project I'm starting and the day after I am going on a holiday, yay!

Favourites - Bloggers.

Part two of my Favourites series is Favourite Bloggers.

I've been following blogs much longer than I've been writing them and have developed quite an extensive list of style icons. Since you probably don't want to trawl through 100's of blogs I'll just give you my top 3.

No.1 - Leandra Medine from The Man Repeller.

Leandra Medine is in a blog-league of her own. Infamous for her clothing choices that are loved by women but hated by men, you will often see the her don sequin harem pants under a skirt worn with 5 shirts (no exaggeration). As unimaginable as the aforementioned outfit may sound, The Man Repeller has a glorious closet filled with high-end labels (not to mention the shoes, oh my, the shoes!) which she mixes to complete her eclectic outfits. Also known for her unique lingo, Medine has coined many phrases including lady boner, arm party, birth controll glasses, skant and the list goes on. Leandra will have you in fits of uncontrollable laugher as she shows you step by step how to deflect the admiring gaze of fellow man.

No. 2 - Celine and Annie from Anniieemal.

Anniieemal is a Melbourne based blog written by two best friends, Celine and Annie. These girls are the epitome of Australian Chic, often mixing high-end labels with department store brands. Celine and Annie have impeccable style and a party habit. Their blog mainly consists of photographs, oozing with style and fun, which you will never tire of looking at. These girls have many model and musician friends (whose names you would recognise) and lead the life you dream of. Check out their blog for a hit of effortless Australian cool.

No. 3 - Trini from self titled blog, Trini.

I have only recently come across this blog and can not stop trawling through the archives. Trini's blog is one of personal style, she embodies everything that is Parisian Chic with a hint of Alexa Chung-esque understated cool. Often sharing simplistic and minimalistic outfit photos, this girl has me falling in love with her easy/casual style. Trini has a self confessed adoration for Chanel and mixes high-end goods with department store brands and vintage gems.

So that's three of my favourite bloggers. I'm thinking I may have to do another Favourite Bloggers post soon as my list is never-ending. Who are your favourite bloggers/style icons?

Rewind.

I got a beautiful new camera yesterday and it has officially stolen my heart. I've one of my Grandmothers beautiful vintage dresses sitting in my closet for a while now and I wanted to do something special. The following images are just me having a little fun playing dress-ups/playing around with my new camera.

 It was incredibly hot outside so I've sworn never to do a shoot in the middle of the day again. I wore my grandmothers vintage dress, vintage hat and picnic basket from an op shop, vintage Glomesh purse from ebay and my mothers wedding shoes.

Do you guys ever play dress-ups?

P.S. Lookie what I made!

I've been lusting over this top from Cacharel for a while now, so today I set myself a task to make one. I just used an old blouse, cropped it and used elastic to cinch the waist. It was really quite simple and I'm more than happy with the results.

The design is a little different because to bring the shoulders in (as per Cacharel version) would have required me to restructure the whole blouse. I think next time I'll just begin from scratch.

This is just a little styling suggestion, how cool are those shorts? I think they're old boys swimming trunks, I got them at an op shop for like $2.50. The boat shoes are Stegman and the sunglasses are unknown.

I have many more DIY ideas to attempt within the next month before I return to uni. I look forward to sharing my successes and failures with you!

Favorties.

I'm going on a little trip next week and have some great outfit posts planned for you. In the meantime, however, I've decided to do a series of 'Favourites' posts which will consist of all my favourites; outfits, food, photographers, designers, bloggers, etc. Todays post is about my Favourite Accessories.

I've recently become obsessed with watches, I found this beauty at an op shop and immediately fell in love. The battery has stopped and the watch is a little worse for wear but I believe those things just add character. The sunglasses are a vintage find on ebay and the necklace is another op shop find.

I'm a sucker for beautiful scents. I really love it when I come across someone or something that smells heavenly. No matter where I'm going, I never leave the house without a spritz of perfume. The enamel bracelet is a treasured op shop find.

Shoes can really make the outfit, I've found myself wearing these pony hair, leopard print babies everywhere because they're just so comfortable! The cuffs are a recent purchase from ASOS. They're heaps of fun to dress up an outfit, I've also taken to wearing them around my ankles for something a little different.

Looking at this post you'd think I was mad for gold. Truth is, I've never been a fan of gold hardware until just recently. These are really the only golden accessories I own, though I do hope to build up my collection in order to feed my Gold Fever!

Candy shop.

We've seen a few labels dive into coloured denim recently. But no one has conquered pastels quite as well as ASOS with their new range of Candy-box Denim. To me these jeans are the essence of a laid back summer and reflect my current love for easy dressing.
